MEMBER ARTISTS

Jane Dobrott has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona. She has sold her paintings and watercolors in Scottsdale AZ, and whimsical wire sculptures in Santa Fe. She also creates unique cowboy hats for guys and gals under the name "Buffalo Belles Millinery". Her newest creations are her clay horse sculptures. She and her husband, a wildlife biologist, have worked on ranches for over 30 years and currently manage Ted Turner's Ladder Ranch.

Kathy Lovell creates a whimsical menagerie under the name "Kathy's Kritters" , including lizards, turtles, galloping horses, horny toads, happy hens, camels, wooley buffalos and more --all made from clay and fired with a beautiful variety of colorful glazes. She also crafts Raku and glazed pottery, hand painted gourd bowls, canteens and tray tables. Kathy also presents historical family motorcycle photographs sure to intrigue all.

Betty Reynolds of "Quilts y Más" in Hillsboro, is a quiltmaker and fiber artist working with fabrics and yarns to produce quilts for bed and walls, purses, totes and scarves which are both practical and decorative. She also supplements her love for things glitzy by creating beaded jewelry and accessories. Betty's work is featured in the New Mexico Fiber Arts Trails brochure .

Melody Sears Melody paints in both pastels and oils, focusing on plein air landscapes (which means fighting bugs and breezes to paint outdoor scenes on site), intermixing them with more formal studio still life paintings of flowers, fruits and vegetables (which don't move in the wind and often provide lunch when the painting is done). Her inspiration is always the light--a shaft of sunlight falling on a bowl of apples, the dramatic light of dawn on a rock cliff. Happily, life in and around Hillsboro provides so much subject matter to paint, she'll never run out of inspiration.

Gene and Diane Washburn of "Sleeping Indian Creative Designs" create handmade tables, coat racks, picture frames and many other items using native woods found in this region. His woodworking is both rustic and elegant -- always celebrating woods' natural beauty.

Sherry Hartman crafts lovely "art deco" purses, combining leather, beads and eclectic fabrics in contemporary Southwestern themes. Each bag is an eyecatcher.

George Cooper's elegant southwest woodworking features cabinets, headboards, shelves and tables beautifully decorated with carved regional motifs. He also collaborates with Percha Creek Trader artists Janie Dobrott and Donna Emsbach in the creation of beautifully handpainted tables.

Matilde Holzwarth's photography presents an artist's view of the magic of New Mexico and the wonders of nature. She has pursued photography for fun and in her career of Neuroscience research and teaching . Since coming to The Land of Enchantment her interest in fine art photography has been energized. She has participated in several Santa Fe Workshops under the tutelage of Jay Maisel and Norman Mauskopf; this has expanded her photographic skills and helped develop her photographic eye. Her fine Archival Prints are created with the finest archival paper and pigment based inks.

Donna Emsbach and Jerry Lester live in Hillsboro partime. Donna creates porcelain jewelry, unique artistic crosses, decorated clay masks and tiles. Jerry creates colorful abstract graphic prints and unique pottery.

Anna Gray is a local fiber artist, weaving beautiful rugs from dyed burlap bean bags, sewing purses from kilim rugs, weaving "weed pots" from handmade yarns, and decorating jackets, shirts and vests. Each piece is unique, original and sumptuous.

Jane Turner and Paul Rose live part-time in the Hillsboro area. Jane is a long-time potter as well as a water colorist whose paintings depict soft muted and impressionistic moments of life. Paul's photographs and notecards focus on historical and western scenes in and around Hillsboro.

Ellie Nordgren of Hillsboro is one of our newest members. She offers beautiful handmade beeswax candles of unique designs, soaps, honey and beautifully packaged chiles.

........

Merry Seewerker of Hillsboro makes elegant necklaces of beautiful polished semiprecious stones. Each necklace is unique in colors and combinations of shapes of the beautifully polished stones.
